OpenTheBooks is a government spending transparency organization. As its multimedia designer, my job came down to taking lengthy oversight reports and investigations and turning them into short-form video across Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.

The Work

OpenTheBooks stories are built on numbers, and numbers are easy to scroll past. I designed stat callouts and figure reveals so the key figure lands in the first second, then recut long findings into punchy vertical pieces built on kinetic type, where the words carry the story and land on the beat.



OTB Retreat film

A longer-form film covering the OpenTheBooks retreat. Beyond the social cuts, it was a chance to edit for story and pacing across a full event.
